Rahul Walia is your Liberal candidate for Winnipeg Centre. Driven by a deep passion for public service, Rahul is committed to ensuring that every voice in the community is heard in Ottawa.

Born and raised in Winnipeg to first-generation immigrants and business owners, Rahul grew up surrounded by the beautiful and vibrant tapestry of Winnipeg’s diverse community. Throughout his youth, Rahul’s involvement and participation in various local organizations introduced him to the resilient and radiant spirit of the community, as well as the unique challenges and difficulties that those within it faced. Through both his community involvement and his family business, he developed strong ties, lasting relationships, and a strong commitment to the people of Winnipeg Centre.

With a focus on Indigenous reconciliation, Rahul began his public service journey interning under Senator Murray Sinclair. This passion for policy and social impact drove him not only to pursue his Masters in Political Management at Carleton University, but additionally serve as a Constituency Assistant for the Honourable Terry Duguid. Working closely with constituents to navigate government resources and advocate on their behalf with Minister Duguid, Rahul would go on to serve as the Regional Advisor to the Minister of Transport, the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez and the Honourable Anita Anand. Beyond his work within the halls of Parliament, Rahul served as a Board Member for the Indo-Canada Ottawa Business Chamber, advocating economic and business opportunities for entrepreneurs, and co-founded the Ottawa Social Value Fund—an initiative dedicated to active investment in social enterprise and nonprofit organizations, fostering innovation and community-driven solutions.
